Naomh Muire, Íochtar Na Rosann 4-10 St Joseph’s Glenavy 5-9
Naomh Muire fought bravely and finished strong but they just ran out of time in a brilliant Ulster Intermediate preliminary round match with St Joseph’s, Glenavy at The Banks.
Ailbhe O’Donnell had the ball in the net in the first minute but St Joseph’s also raised the green flag in the first couple of minutes and the hosts found themselves another goal down on the 15 minute mark.
But they hit back with a Caroline Sharkey goal and found themselves 2-7 to 2-6 down at the break.
And while they had the wind to their backs after the break, St Joseph’s hit three goals in the first ten minutes of the restart to pull away.
John Pidgeon’s side kept chipping away at the score and late goals from Katie O’Donnell and Erika Hanna had them to within two points but they ran out of time.
