Vaccination clinics planned across county this week

COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be held across Donegal over the coming week as the HSE has urged people to get vaccinated in order to protect the healthcare system this winter.

The vaccination centres and pop up mobile clinics are offering primary vaccinations and adapted bivalent booster doses to eligible cohorts.

These new adapted bivalent vaccines offer increased protection against Covid-19 and the Omicron variant.

HSE Chief Clinical Officer, Colm Henry said vaccination is their message, not just against Covid-19 this winter but against influenza as well.

“It protects you; it also protects those around you. It stops you eventually if you do become ill, transmitting that, getting sick and causing someone else to become sick. And of course, it protects our healthcare system, and reduces the burden of illness,” he said.

The vaccination centre in Letterkenny (Building 1b IDA Business Park, Ballyraine, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, F92 FP83) will have a clinic on Wednesday 9th November from 8.15am to 4.15pm for 12 years and over, Friday 11th November from 9:15am to 5:15pm and Saturday 12th November from 10:15am to 4:30pm for 12 years and over and 5pm to 6:15pm for those aged 5 to 11 years.

There will be a Covid-19 vaccination pop-up clinic at Donegal Primary Care Centre on Saturday 12th November from 11am to 5:15pm for 12 years and over.

You can book your COVID-19 vaccine appointment online at www.hse.ie/book or you can walk-in to the centre. There are different times offered for different age cohorts, therefore please ensure you book/walk-in to the correct clinic for your age.

To book your Flu vaccine and to check if you are one of the eligible groups please contact your GP or check with your local pharmacy. You can also check which pharmacy is delivering flu vaccines via the pharmacy finder: https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/flu/pharmacies-flu/
