Balor Manager Conor Malone said, “My favourite moments in this job are those when I’m introduced to a previously unheard of (to me) artist who just blows me away, and Christopher Paul Stelling is one. Since I heard his CD a couple of months ago I’ve been really looking forward to the live performance.”

Itinerant Arias, released on the Anti Records label, is Stelling’s fourth album and is packed with darkly beautiful and powerful songs. The name describes it perfectly – the experiences gained from over 400 shows in the last three years distilled into one haunting and impassioned masterpiece. It is a sublime combination of effortless yet intricate finger-picking guitar, a voice that sounds both young and old and lyrics that are dramatic, perceptive and intensely confessional.

“The stand out track for me is the recently released single Destitute – it’s on Youtube, give it a listen. In fact the whole album is there to stream. It’s fantastic,” Conor Malone added.

This upcoming Balor gig is a three piece, with Stelling on vocals and guitar, joined by a bassist and a violin player. If the Balor’s recommendation is anything to go by, you may not be familiar with the music of Christopher Paul Stelling but after this gig you won’t forget him.

Christopher Paul Stelling plays The Balor, Ballybofey on Monday September 25 at 8pm. Tickets are €15 available from The Balor Box Office on 0749131840 or online at www.balorartscentre.com.
