LABOUR Party Senator Jimmy Harte still remains in a critical condition in a Dublin Hospital.
Senator Harte (55), a father of four, underwent emergency surgery early this morning.
He is gravely ill in Beaumont Hospital where he is an induced coma following the operation.
His family are with him in hospital and the next 48 hours are ‘critical’. His injuries include a fractured skull.
Gardai have said the accident was most likely the result of a “tragic fall.”
The well known and respected politician was found collapsed with serious head injuries in the south inner city.
Garda sources said they are tracking through CCTV footage.
Sources close to the Harte family too said they were now treating the incident as an accident.
Senator Harte, was found at 3am in the Newmarket Square area of Dublin 8.
Gardai at Kevin Street are studying CCTV footage from the area.
