‘Unprecedented levels’ of domestic violence in Donegal

ALMOST 500 domestic abuse incidents were reported to gardaí in Donegal in the first half of this year, while the county’s probation service currently has the highest number (26) of active domestic violence cases in the region.

This marks an increase on last year’s Donegal cases (17), which outnumbered Sligo and Mayo’s cases combined (16).

The unprecedented levels of domestic violence in Donegal has prompted the launch of a new group, aimed at changing the abusive behaviour of perpetrators.
