Naomh Colmcille manager Ryan McKinley is pleased that his side have been handed the underdogs tag once again, as they prepare for their Ulster Junior Club Football Championship final on Saturday night.
It’s been a remarkable season so far for the Newtowncunningham side and they are hoping to claim provincial glory in Healy Park where they face Belnaleck Art McMurroughs.
Donegal clubs have fared poorly in the Ulster Junior Championship, and no side from the county has ever won it, although Urris and Naomh Brid have both reached the decider.
Naomh Colmcille are hoping to create history but the bookies have made them outsiders at 15/8 to win.
However, that is not a concern for McKinley who says his team have been underdogs since they produced a big performance to defeat Moville in the Donegal Junior quarter-final.
“We have been underdogs for every game we have had since that Moville match, but it’s something that the players seem to thrive on.
“It doesn’t bother them at all. They believe that they can win and they just go out to put their best foot forward.
“We know it won’t be easy. It doesn’t matter what the competition is or what the standard is, it’s never easy to win an Ulster Championship.
“It’s going to take a massive effort from us to win.
