Burt did improve late in the half and Liam McKinney scored three frees but they were dealt a real blow late in the half when county star Ronan McDermott was shown a straight red card.

HT: Burt 0-6 Lavey 1-7

Conor Gartland was sensational in the second half and pulled Burt back into contention.

The Hibernian Park side were level by the 62nd minute but Fintan Bradley looked to have won it for Lavey.

However, there was still time for more play and McKinney won and converted a free to send the game to extra-time.

The additional twenty minutes was evenly-fought and Lavey were one up before McKinney levelled matters in the 80th minute.

Gill then fired over and there was still time for drama after that when Connor Melaugh’s point was initially given but the umpires subsequently decided it was wide.
