Uisce Éireann crews working to restore water to Donegal’s twin towns

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a major water main burst affecting Ballybofey and Stranorlar this morning.

Homes and businesses in the twin towns and surrounding areas are experiencing a disruption to their water supply but every effort is being made to return a normal supply as quickly as possible.

Crews have been mobilised and repairs are expected to be complete by 6pm.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Uisce Éireann’s Paul Kilcoyne assured customers that every effort is being made to restore water as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works are ongoing.”
