Údarás na Gaeltachta to host exciting event in Croithlí Distillery next week

AN EXCITING event exploring how our ancient heritage, wild landscape and vibrant community spirit continue to shape life in Donegal will take place in Crolly next week.

Údarás na Gaeltachta is proud to host ‘Believe in Home: How Donegal’s Spirit Shapes us’, an evening to explore the many ways a sense of place not only inspires artists but also shapes community identity across sectors.

The event will take place at 6.30pm, on Tuesday, March 4, in Drioglann Chroithlí/Croithlí Distillery, Crolly (Eircode: F92 XHH5).

Cathal Goan, chair of Comhairle Bhéaloideas Éireann and the Folklore of Ireland Foundation, and former director general of RTÉ, will address the impact that Donegal’s natural heritage and location on the edge of the Atlantic has had on the county’s people and their work.

Also being discussed on the night will be how the region’s untamed natural beauty has influenced the arts and fostered new cultural and economic opportunities across Ireland and farther afield.

Those in attendance will discover how this deep-rooted sense of place has not only inspired generations of musicians, writers and painters, but continues to shape our community’s identity today across multiple sectors.

That influence has a broad reach.

The landscape that inspires Donegal and its people has also contributed to a global cultural language through the powerful impact of Donegal’s creative exports: From our thriving arts scene and flourishing film sector to our distinctive textile heritage, when people believe in the worth of their home and heritage, they create lasting cultural treasures.
