THE distribution of Pádraig MacLochlainn’s surplus votes has failed to see a third candidate reach the quota in the Donegal constituency.
The lowest two candidates, Niall McConnell and Arthur McGuinness have now been eliminated and a fourth count is underway to distribute their votes.
Returning officer, Ms Geraldine O’Connor has just read the results of the third count which are as follows:

The four candidates in the running for the final three seats at this stage are still Pat The Cope Gallagher, Charlie McConalogue, Joe McHugh and Thomas Pringle. The quota is 12,909.
