DANCING twins Niamh and Gavin Shevlin got to spend time at Christmas with their parents in Bomany, outside Letterkenny, before joining the Lord of the Dance tour to Taiwan in January.
Michael Flatley’s Irish dance group will be visiting east Asia for the sixth time, performing its ‘Feet of Flames’ programme.
Troupe members will undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine upon their arrival in preparation for a nationwide tour. The week-long trip will take them to Taichung, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Changhua, and Hualien, for eight shows altogether.
Niamh has been in Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance for three and a half years and now plays the lead role of ‘Good Girl’. She is in London preparing for the new tour having spent some time working in recently in Germany.
A psychiatric nurse, Gavin (24) was in Dubai last month with Riverdance where they developed and performed a bespoke show for EXPO 2020.
The pair, who are former World Irish Dance champions, performed together with Lord of the Dance in Taiwan this time last year.
“We’re lucky to have the two of them home for a few days around Christmas before they set off once more in the New Year. It’s what they both love doing – dancing – and it’s a great way to see the world,” their mother Geralyn said.
“At the moment it’s just me, Michael (husband) and the wee dog. It will be nice to hear a bit of noise and life about the house again,” she added.
The iconic Irish dance show created by Michael Flatley features more than 90 dancers.
