A spokesperson for the German retailer said they are a proud supporter of Irish producers, and has tripled its annual spend on Irish products over the past five years, helping maintain over 22,000 jobs across the Irish food industry.

Suppliers from the local area include Mulrines of Ballybofey, which supplies fruit juices and Donegal Rapeseed Oil of Raphoe, which supplies Aldi’s Specially Selected Irish Rapeseed Oil.

“Since 2008, Aldi has almost doubled the number of Irish suppliers it works with. Over 50 per cent of Aldi’s supplier spend is with Irish suppliers, producers and manufacturers.

All of Aldi’s fresh meats, fresh poultry, eggs, bread, flour, and many of its teas, coffees, soft drinks, waters and snacks come from leading Irish suppliers,” the spokesperson said.
