NOMINATIONS closed on Saturday for candidates wishing to contest the General Election on November 29.
There are 20 candidates for the five seater Donegal constituency.
There will definitely be at least one new face representing the constituency in the new Dáil with outgoing deputy Joe McHugh (Fine Gael) not seeking re-election.
A number of people who had indicated their intention to contest the election are not now running. Meanwhile some new faces, whom we didn’t expect to run, are now included in the final list of candidates.
The following is the confirmed, final list of candidates contesting the General Election in Donegal:
Fine Gael, Senator Nikki Bradley and John McNulty; Green Party, Nuala Carr; People Before Profit, Carol Gallagher; Irish Freedom Party, Eamonn McGee; The Irish People, Kim McMenamin; Aontú, Mary T Sweeney; 100% Redress, Charles Ward; Sinn Féin, Pearse Doherty, Noel Jordan and Pádraig Mac Lochlainn; Fianna Fáil, Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher, Claudia Kennedy and Charlie McConalogue; Independent candidates, Vincent J Bradley, Niall McConnell, Arthur Desmond McGuiness, Gerry McKeever, Frank O’Donnell and Thomas Pringle.
