There were twelve arrests made in the Donegal Garda Division for drink driving over the Christmas period.
Between December 20 and January 2 there were also seven people arrested for drug driving offences.
Six of those arrests occurred between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day – one drug driving and five drink driving arrests.
“A number of other road traffic related offences have also been detected and dealt with over the past couple of weeks, the main offence being that of speeding,” said a Garda spokesperson.
“It is the time of year to make resolutions and so we urge all road users/pedestrians and cyclists to make a resolution to always make responsible decisions where road safety is concerned.”
