Twelve apartments approved for Milford

DONEGAL County Council is set to go ahead with the construction of 12 new apartments in the centre of Milford as part of its social housing plans.

The 0.5 hectare site is owned by the council and is located between Milford Fire Station and the Education and Training Board premises.

The development will comprise two one-bed apartments and ten two-bed apartments.

Following a public consultation process, four submissions/observations were received, and considered by the council before it made its final decision in favour of going ahead, which was subject to approval by councillors under what is known as a Part 8 process.

One of the submissions was in relation to the townlands for the planned development, “Rossgarrow and Milford”.

It was claimed that this was “misleading” as the second townland should be Millford. While the spelling of the town is Milford, the townland is Millford.

In the Chief Executive’s (Part 8) Report, he states that he is satisfied that the proposed development has been “adequately identified”.

The other submissions were in relation to the signing of names on drawings, An Bord Pleanala correspondence, and the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.

Councillors approved the Part 8 documentation at the last meeting of Donegal Co. Council and the proposed development has now been granted approval to proceed, subject to 22 conditions which are all fairly standard.
