Truck run for Creeslough

A trucker who was one of the first at the scene of the Creeslough tragedy is holding a fundraising truck run to raise funds for the affected families.

Colin Kilpatrick was delivering compost to Homeland across the road from Applegreen when the explosion took place.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Colin said he wanted to do something to help those impacted by the disaster.

“I helped some people out and then ended up driving one of Buckley’s lorries, carting rubble away. I stayed there until the very end. I was there over 24 hours. Between myself and my work colleagues, we wanted to do something for the people of Creeslough. All we know is lorries so that’s where the idea came from and so far, we are getting great support from the lorry men,” he said.

Following registration Colin will lead the parade of trucks to Creeslough before they make their way to the Silver Tassie Hotel for an auction followed by a dance.

Tickets are €15 and doors open at 7pm with Tony Morning auctioneering on the night. From lorry parts to new tyres, sheep and tools there is a wide variety being auctioned on the night.

Following the auction The David Craig Band and DJ Tubsy will be providing entertainment alongside some special guests.
Overwhelmed by the interest in the event, Colin said the response so far has been very positive with over 70 lorries already registered.
