Trio accused of Mourne Antiques theft refused bail

TWO women and a man accused of a significant theft of jewellery and cash from Mourne Antiques in Letterkenny have been refused bail when they appeared before the district court this afternoon.

Larisa Craioveanca Curte (31), Vasilica Bita (53) and Daniel Constantin Mandescu (30) appeared before the court over the incident which occurred on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Detective Garda Sergeant Joe Keely objected to bail and said they are all a flight risk and was not satisfied with an address provided my Ms Bita’s son in Dublin.

Solicitor Patsy Gallagher argued that the trio should be granted bail and were willing to sign on at Garda station in Dublin, make a cash lodgement, provide a mobile phone and agree to a curfew if required. However, Judge Paul Kelly said he was satisfied with the argument made by Sgt Keely and refused bail in all three cases. The three are due to appear before Letterkenny District Court again next week via video link.
