A presentation function was held in Cúirt Hotel, Gaoth Dobhair on Saturday night to mark the retirement of Dara Uí Dhuibhir from Gaoth Dobhair Credit Union.
Dara of Ard na gCeapairí, Derrybeg has retired after serving the company for 33 years, 23 of which were as Chief Executive and 10 years as a member of the Board of Directors.
Dara said her years spent working at Gaoth Dobhair Credit Union were very happy.
“I loved getting up in the morning and coming over the road to work,” she said.
“I do not want to mention names but there are two I must mention and they are Pádraig Ó Dochartaigh and Máire Mhic Niallais who were the founder members of the Credit Union in Gaoth Dobhair 50 years ago and they are still very active in the organisation.”
Dara recalled how the first computer was delivered to the office in August 1993 and the new system was up and running in October with all cards data-transferred online.
She paid tribute to the board members and efficient staff for all their co-operation and help and said they were a great bunch of people.
Dara also thanked her late father, Tom a’ Bhungalow Mac Giolla Bhríghde, for all his advice and help spanning many years.
She wished her successor, Annmarie Coll every good wish in her new position. She added that she is very grateful to her former superiors who have kindly allowed her to take home the chair she sat on during the past 33 years. She said it will be a reminder of the happy years she worked there.
Bearnaí Ó Gallchóir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gaoth Dobhair Credit Union paid glowing tributes to Dara for her great service. He described her as a woman of high principles, and a dedicated and hugely reliable individual.
He said Dara always got on well with her staff, and was always co-operative with members of the Board of Directors and other committees within the organisation. He wished her every happiness in the years to come.
