FAMILY and friends of the late Gerry ‘Singer’ Gallagher gathered at the weekend to announce details of a major concert to celebrate the South Donegal singer’s life.
The Ballyshannon singer’s sudden death on August 1 came as a great shock to all who knew him and it is hoped that the concert will in Gerry’s own words ‘bring a smile to all their faces and what else could an entertainer ask for’.
Gerry was a familiar face throughout the North West as he was often the genial host and MC to many of our well-known festivals and events and was a familiar voice on the many interviews he gave to local radio.
But it was as an entertainer and singer that he was truly at home and he was known throughout the country as the entertainer ‘Gerry Singer’.
He sang with them all and came to national prominence in the 90’s as the regular support act to the late great Joe Dolan on his many tours of Ireland
These fellow entertainers have now come together to present a night with the stars in Gerry’s favourite venue the Allingham Arm’s Hotel in Bundoran with the proceeds going to two causes dear to his heart, Bundoran Child Care and the Rock Hall development fund in Ballyshannon.
It truly is a star-studded line up including Jimmy Buckley, Robert Mizzell, Jim Devine, Johnny Brady, Richie Remo, Philomena Begley, Lee Mattews, Paul Kelly, Kieran McAree, Shane Shovelin, Farrah Bogle, Stefan Walker and Tom Campbell.
The event takes place in the Allinham Arms Hotel, Bundoran at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 18th November and tickets at €15 are available directly from the hotel on Tel 0719841075 or email info@allinghamarmshotel.ie.
