A STATE agency has lodged an appeal over plans for a childcare facility, requiring direct access to the N15, on the grounds it conflicts with government’s objective to safeguard road safety.
Planning permission to change the use of an existing licensed premises in Cloughfin, Castlefin, to a childcare facility was given the green light by Donegal County Council in to applicant Tommy O’Neill.
Plans comprised demolition of a flat roof extension to the rear, modifications of the internal layout of the premises, minor alteration to window openings, reconfiguration of external pedestrian access ramps, signage and associated site development works.
Donegal County Council gave the go-ahead, subject to 12 conditions. These include that prior to the commencement of development, a road safety audit is to be carried out following the detailed design stage, and submitted to the council for written agreement prior to the commencement of any development works on site.
All recommendations of the Road Safety Audits must be implemented prior to the construction process, and must be completed, prior to the commencement of any other development.
