Tragic sibling crash victims laid to rest

THE brother and sister in their seventies, who tragically lost their lives in a two car collision in Kilmacrennan on Wednesday night, were laid to rest yesterday following separate Requiem Masses in Carrigart and Termon.

The kind and caring nature of each of the siblings was recalled at both services.

The fatal crash happened on the N56 at around 11.50pm on Wednesday night with PJ McGettigan of Fawns, Termon, and his sister Una McGettigan of Glenaraugh, Carrigart, pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other car involved, a woman in her forties, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, but her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Requiem Mass for PJ McGettigan was held at midday in St Columba’s Church in Termon with burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

Requiem Mass for Una was held in the Church of St John the Baptist in Carrigart at 3pm with burial in the adjoining graveyard. There were large attendances at both services.
