Traffic restrictions in place for Royal visit today

An Garda Siochana have issued updated traffic restrictions for Letterkenny and Donegal Town ahead of the visit of HRH Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall to today.

In Letterkenny, there will be no vehicular access (no through traffic) from KFC to the Heaton Buckley entrance from 10am to 3pm today. There will also be no vehicular access from Pole Star Roundabout on to the Port Road to KFC from 12 noon  until approximately 3pm.

Pedestrian access will be permitted but persons will be subject to search.

Meanwhile, there will be restricted access to the Ballyraine Road (rear of LYIT) Regional Road R 245 from 10am to 3.30pm. Delays may be also experienced on the West Donegal access /egress route to Letterkenny (R 250) between 2pm and 4pm.

A Garda spokesperson said: “The Garda intention is minimum disruption to the general public and to facilitate any persons with special requests where possible.
“Keep abreast of Radio News bulletins which will impart latest information.”

The general public are also advised to be aware of extra traffic density in and around Donegal Town between Donegal Town (N15) to Letterkenny  through Ballybofey and onwards onto the (N13)in to Letterkenny.

“Allow extra time for your journey,” added the Gardai spokesperson.
