Traffic delays expected on Saturday as Donegal take on Tyrone

MOTORISTS are being advised to expect traffic delays on Saturday as Donegal take on Tyrone in the Round 1 of the Senior All-Ireland Championship.

The match will take place in  MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey. Throw-in is at 7pm.

“Please expect traffic delays both before and after the match. While we endeavour to assist traffic movement as much as possible, the large numbers attending will result in unavoidable delays. Adding additional time for your journey is advisable,” a garda spokesperson said.

Parking will be available in several car parks around the town.

“Please utilise these areas fully. We ask everybody attending the game to please park responsibly. Do not park in a manner that causes obstruction to footpaths, private entrances or that obstructs access for emergency services or that obstructs the free flow of traffic. Any vehicles found to be causing an obstruction will be subject to fixed charge notices as necessary and may be towed. This is to ensure a free flow of traffic for everyone pre and post-match,” said the garda spokesperson.

Spectators are asked not to park in the car park of St. Mary’s Church in Stranorlar as a vigil Mass takes place there at 6pm on Saturday evenings.

“There is limited disabled parking availability on the Main Street and in car parks in the vicinity of the grounds.

“Please follow directions from Gardaí, security staff and stewards in the area. We hope that everyone has an enjoyable day and we wish both teams the best of luck,” added the spokesperson.
