Town Council in Christmas drinks row

LETTERKENNY’s mayor, Cllr Gerry McMonagle has said he was annoyed that the integrity of councillors was brought into question over the matter of adjourning a council meeting for Christmas drinks.
Monday’s monthly meeting was completed despite the tradition of adjourning the December meeting for councillors, staff and media to socialise together before the holidays.
Before they were reached on the agenda, motions for the December meeting have been adjourned to January in previous years and councillors, council staff and media would go out together on the invitation of the mayor.
