A WAVE of emotion swept through Letterkenny today as hundreds gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to Tommy Connors.
Mr Connors, of Neil T Blaney Road, lost his life in a weather-related incident in the town during Storm Amy last Friday afternoon.
His requiem Mass took place this morning in St Eunan’s Cathedral.
A very well-known and popular member of the community, Mr Connors’ passing has prompted deep sadness among his family and many friends.
His death comes less than three months after his mother, Martina, died in July.

During the Mass, Fr Anthony Hartnett said that the family have once again been brought to their knees by tragedy.
“It has been too short of time since we were last here together before a white coffin,” Fr Hartnett said.
“How can this be?
“A freak accident, and once again, we are on our knees.”
Mr Connors was remembered for his deep love of music.
“Tommy loved music,” Fr Hartnett said.
“Perhaps it was his biggest passion in life.
“He devoted much of his life to the sounds and the magic of song.
“He played many instruments.”

As Mass came to a close, the Connors family expressed their thanks to the emergency services.
Addressing the congregation on their behalf, Fr Anthony Hartnett said: “Tommy will be loved and missed by all the Connors family and the Bradley family.
“We will cherish all the memories with him.
“He will never be forgotten.”
Following Mass, interment took place in Leck Cemetery.
