Tidy Towns recognise great effort across Donegal


A NUMBER of towns and villages across Donegal have been recognised in this year’s allocation of awards in the Tidy Towns initiative.
On Monday afternoon the National Tidy Towns winners were announced with the ultimate accolade going to Listowel in County Kerry.
 
However, significant success has been achieved in Donegal with Carrigart named the National Gaeltacht Award winner and receiving €1,500.
 
Letterkenny also received a County Award of €1,000 and a Gold Medal Award of €900.
 
Buncrana Tidy Towns Initiative were awarded €1,00 after winning the ‘Let’s Get Buzzing Local Authority Pollinator Awards’.
 
Caitriona Crossan of Raphoe SuperValu Tidy Towns was also named as a Tidy Towns Community Hero for 2018.
 
The local group in Maghery also received an award of €500 in the Endeavour Awards category after they showed a four per cent improvement on last year’s results.
