AN extraordinary wave of support from local businesses and companies across Donegal and further afield continues to build behind the Downstrands Family Resource Support Fund, through their backing of the upcoming Neven Maguire Fundraising Cookery Demonstration at the Clanree Hotel on March 9.
The event is organised by Barrie Quinn of Portnoo Market Garden and follows on from his highly successful Christmas Appeal, which raised an incredible €55,000 in December for families in need.
This latest initiative is already making a significant impact, with sponsorship contributions now exceeding €3,000, and the value of raffle and auction prizes surpassing €4,000.
Sponsors including iMotors, Sliabh Liag Distillers, the Clanree Hotel and Nancy’s Bar, Ardara have shown outstanding generosity and leadership in their support of the event.
Their early and meaningful financial contributions have helped build vital momentum for the fundraiser, providing a strong foundation for the night and encouraging many other businesses to come on board.
An exceptional range of prizes has been donated for the raffle and auction. Highlights include All-Ireland Final tickets for football or hurling generously provided by the GAA, luxury hotel stays from Harvey’s Point, festival tickets for the Ballymaloe Festival of Food and a glamping experience from The Bee Pods, Rossnowlagh, alongside many hampers and vouchers from Donegal businesses exceeding €4,000 in value.
On the night, 10 local artisan food producers will showcase their goods, adding to the atmosphere and experience of the event. Collectively, these producers have also contributed €500 directly to the fund, further underlining the depth of local support.
Renowned chef Neven Maguire will be in attendance, and with capacity limited to 600 tickets, demand has been exceptionally strong, with tickets selling fast.
Organisers have expressed heartfelt thanks to every business, producer and organisation involved, noting that the scale of generosity reflects a powerful spirit of community and collaboration. All proceeds from the event will go directly towards supporting the vital work of the Downstrands Family Resource Centre.
