THREE Donegal tax defaulters agreed settlements of almost half a million euro with the Revenue Commissioners this week.
According to the latest list published in Tuesday’s edition of Iris Oifigiúil, companies and individuals here agreed total settlements of €423,042 for a range of infringements, including having an offshore account, the under-declaration of income tax, VAT and PAYE/PRSI.
In the three-month period to 31 March 2016, 100 taxpayers nationally made settlements totalling €24.7m.
The largest local settlement, €250,000, was made by Pat Boyle, a butcher and landlord from Meenmore, Dungloe, following a
Revenue offshore asset investigation case and the underdeclaration of income tax. His initial tax bill was €98,976, before interest of €121,334 and penalties of €29,690 were added.
Charles Vial (Fish Merchant) Ltd in Killybegs settled for €123,717 for the underdeclaration of PAYE, PRSI and VAT. His initial tax bill was €65,984, before interest of €37,938 and penalties of €19,795 were added.
Hugh McNulty, a builder with an address at Mullaghaneary, Killygordon, settled for €49,325 for the underdeclaration of income tax and VAT. From an initial tax bill of €28,488, interest of €12,291 and penalties of €8,546 were added.
