Thousands raised for young woman after shock cancer diagnosis

A FUNDRAISER to help support a young mother from St Johnston who was diagnosed with cancer last week raised over €15,000 in a day.

Patrice Mc Crossan (née Rodgers), aged 32, discovered she had acute aggressive leukaemia last Friday and was sent to Galway for treatment two days later.

The news came as a huge shock for Patrice and her husband Gary. The couple have four young children aged between seven months and nine years.

In a bid to support the family through this difficult time local woman Kirsty Curran has set up a raffle fundraiser on GoFundMe. It was set up on Thursday and has managed to raise over €15,000 with more than 500 donations made.

Kirsty said Patrice has a long road ahead of her and asked for the community to pray for the young mum.

“She is starting four weeks daily chemo and undergoing a lot of tests. A little donation just to help with kids and expenses of family travelling back and forth to be at her side and that they don’t have the burden of worrying about money on top of everything they are going through,” she said.

Donations can be made through the ‘Help support the Mc Crossan and Rodgers family’ GoFundMe page.
