FINN Harps have bolstered their midfield with the signing of former Derry City and Institute player Thomas McBride, who played the full ninety minutes in Wednesday night’s 1-0 win over Dergview at LYIT.
McBride, who was selected for the Northern Ireland U18 Schoolboys in 2010 but later went on to represent the Republic at U19 level, previously had a brief spell across-channel with Northampton Town and Harps Director of Football Felix Healy believes he will be a welcome addition to his squad.
“I think everybody knows he’s a decent player and you could see that tonight. It’s about marrying one or two other things around him in terms of where we think he’s going to fit in,” said Healy, who shed some light on the latest with striker Chris Breen.
He added: “ He’s fine, there is just the concern over his shoulder. It’s going to have to be pinned. It’s been very difficult for him because he’s down in Cork. He’s had exams, he’s up and down, he’s all over the place and hasn’t been able to join us at this moment in time. It’s been really frustrating for him.
