Treaty United 3 Finn Harps 1
Finn Harps were defeated for the third successive game in the First Division at the hands of Treaty United in the Markets Field.
The Harps began brightly and Patrick Ferry, Dara McGuinness and Gavin McAteer all threatening early on, but Treaty held firm.
Neither ‘keeper had much to do after that and it looked destined to be deadlocked at the break until a number of deflections after a Treaty free kick saw the ball fall to Evan O’Connor who volleyed into the bottom corner.
Darren Murphy’s men wasted no time in responding however, as Mikey Place’s enticing low cross came to McGuinness at the back post, and the forward poked in from close range for his first goal of season, with just 32 seconds on the clock after the restart.
But Treaty went ahead again with 15 to play as Mark Byrne’s shot was parried by Oisin Cooney and Lee Devitt got a touch to the ball ahead of Cooney, with Alan Patchell pointing to the spot.
Devitt stepped up and went right and despite Cooney getting a touch, Cooney couldn’t keep it out.
And with five minutes to go, the game swung as a McAterr free found Max Hutchison whose effort hit off the crossbar. From the restart, Treaty attacked down the left and Richkov Boevi crossed for substitute David Tarmey who bundled the ball in from close range.
The Harps are away next Friday again to UCD.
