THIEVES stole a car and household goods during a Christmas Day burglary. Gardai confirmed yesterday (Thursday) the burglary happened in the Glencar Park area and is under investigation.
A Honda Civic car, a large television and other household items were stolen in the daring raid as the family were out of the house visiting.
The front window of a house was broken to gain entry. Speaking to the Donegal News, Garda Inspector Goretti Sheridan, described those behind the burglary as ‘heartless’.
“The burglary happened at around 7.30pm. A Honda Civic was stolen from the driveway and while in the house the thieves stole a large television, household items and other items of value,” she said.
“We’re appealing for information and somebody may have spotted the Honda Civic as it was being driven away from the area. The family are naturally very upset,” she added.
Meanwhile, thieves broken into the homes of two families on the same housing estate in Ballybofey on Sunday night.
The gang broke into the homes at Glenpatrick Park in Ballybofey and stole a number of Christmas presents from at least one of the houses. Both houses were ransacked during the raids.
The houses were both unoccupied during the burglaries. Garda forensic officers and scene of crime investigators carried out examinations at the scenes of the burglaries. Investigations are continuing and garda are seeking assistance from the public as part of their enquiries.
