MULTI-award winning singer and musician Julie Fowlis, one of the most beautiful voices in world music, makes a welcome return to County Donegal for what promises to be a wonderful concert at Regional Cultural Centre Letterkenny on Wednesday, May 6.

She will be accompanied by her very accomplished regular band, featuring fiddler Duncan Chisholm, guitarist Tony Byrne and her multi-instrumentalist partner Eamon Doorley, for her first gig at the RCC in a number of years.

With a career spanning ten years and four studio albums and highlights that include singing at the Commonwealth Games and on the soundtrack of Disney Pixar’s ‘Brave’, her ‘crystalline’ and ‘intoxicating’ vocals have enchanted audiences all over the world.

Nominated as Folk Singer of the Year 2015 at the BBC Folk Awards, Julie is a warm and engaging live performer who has graced stages around the globe, from her home on the Outer Hebridean island of North Uist to theatres in Paris, London and New York, to singing live at the opening ceremony of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 to a TV audience of over 1 billion people.

Julie Fowlis’ exquisite voice, her interpretation of Scottish Gaelic culture and ability to bring folk music out of the past and into something contemporary, dynamic and irresistible, are what have made her a genuine and multi-award winning crossover star.

Her roots may be firmly in folk music and the Scottish Gaelic culture she grew up in, but her talent and style have brought her into the mainstream, where her unique ability to interpret the culture she is so passionate about, in a way that resonates with all who hear her sing, have won her broad new audiences.
