The Gallaghers reach final of Ireland’s Fittest Family

THE Gallaghers from Letterkenny have reached the final of Ireland’s Fittest Family.

The final will be shown on RTE One this Sunday at 6.30pm.

At the beginning of the competition we saw 16 of Ireland’s most fearless families go head to head in gruelling tasks and mental challenges.

With only four of these families remaining it is now or never for the Gallagher family.

They will be competing against the Fitzsimons from Wicklow, the Nugents from Louth and the Finnegans from Cork in a fight to be called ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’.

With a €15,000 prize fund up for grabs they will need to get their game face on.

They’ve withstood the battering of the ‘forest’, the twists of the ‘swamp’ and the hardship of the ‘lake’.

In Sunday’s episode, the final four families take on their most challenging obstacle yet, the ‘mountain’.

Lisa Gallagher and her children Molly, James and Connor make up the Gallagher team.

In last weeks episode we seen the Gallaghers compete in the ‘swamp’.

The beginning of the challenge started off slow for the Gallaghers as they scrambled through the sludge.

All exhausted, they proceeded over the log before plunging back into the swamp to tackle the next leg.

With the finish line in sight all the Gallaghers had to do was climb the ladder.

With a time of 6 minutes and 25 seconds they were bottom of the leader board alongside the McNallys from Monaghan.

Both families had to go head to head in the eliminator to fight for their spot in the competition.

In the eliminator, team work was not an issue for the Gallaghers and this is how they claimed their place in the final.

Speaking to the Donegal News, Lisa Gallagher said they’re up against very strong families in the final.

“We are all in the final for a reason and we really didn’t know what to expect of the ‘mountain’,” she said.

Tune in to RTE One on Sunday evening to see how the Gallagher family get on.
