The Dail will today elect a Leas Cheann Comhairle in a secret ballot by way of PR
Last month, members of the Oireachtas failed to elect a LCC when none of the candidates received an overall majority. In that vote Donegal’s Pat the Cope Gallagher (Fianna Fail) received the highest vote.
There are four candidates vying for the post, namely Bernard Durkan (Fine Gael), Sean Crowe (Sinn Fein), Mattie Mc Grath (Independent) and Deputy Gallagher.
The House sits this morning at 10am and the vote takes place shortly afterwards. The count will begin at 7pm and the result is expected about 8pm.
