Gareth Concarr is a SFC winner with Ardara from 2004 and has been one of the most prolific scorers in Donegal club football for the past 18 seasons.

He’s also represented his county at all grades including senior.

Concarr has faced some top quality players over the course of his career and has this week picked the best fifteen he has faced.

Paul Durcan (Four Masters): Paul was one of the best ‘keepers in the country. He had huge presence and he was very agile as well. Added a new dimension to his game under Jim McGuinness and his distribution was second to none.

Karl Lacey (Four Masters): What a player. Karl could play anywhere in the full-back or half back-lines. He put the forward on the back foot and always had an influence on the game. Has some collection of medals and awards.

Neil McGee (Gaoth Dobhair): A real leader from the back for both club and county. Any day Neil came your way was a tough one. He never gave you an inch. I’d some great battles over the years with him. Seriously physical but also a brilliant footballer.

Christopher McFadden (Gaoth Dobhair): What a solid defender and also a great man-to-man marker. He never shied away from a battle. One of the most underrated players in the county.

Barry Dunnion (Four Masters): Another Donegal Town man. Barry in his pomp was a real driving force out from the back line. You were in for a long day marking Barry as he just had so much energy. A real gentleman off the field but a torture on it!

Kevin Cassidy (Gaoth Dobhair): A massive influence for Gaoth Dobhair for so long and he’s still going. Was a fantastic wing back and also comfortable at midfield. Was excellent at full-forward in the side’s Ulster campaign.

Anthony Thompson (Naomh Conaill): Mr Consistent, Anthony was both a great club and county player. He seemed to ghost in to those great positions and was almost impossible to track.

John Gildea (Naomh Conaill): John was still playing when I started with the seniors. He was a huge presence and leader from the midfield for Glenties. We’d some great battles in those early years. I’ll never forget a time he hit me in my debut season back in 2003. I was seeing stars.

Neil Gallagher (Glenswilly): What can I say, just an absolute giant in the middle of the field. If he didn’t win it no one else did! A great midfielder and a real class act both on and off the field.

Rory Kavanagh (St Eunan’s): I had the pleasure to play with Rory and he was another one of those players that was massive for both his club and Donegal. A stylish, athletic, intelligent and hard-working operator and a leader in the dressing room.

Conall Dunne (St Eunan’s): When we would play St Eunan’s, Conall was the first man I’d look for. Every team has a player that makes them tick and Conall always seemed to have a good day against Ardara.

Gary ‘Copper’ McFadden (Glenswilly): Gary has been an unbelievable player for Glenswilly. He’s always leading from the start. A great half-forward who had one of the sweetest left foots I’ve seen.

James Gallagher (Gaoth Dobhair): James was a massive player for Gaoth Dobhair and one I loved to watch. He never seemed to have a bad day against us and always gave our defenders a hard time. He was unbelievable from both play and from frees.

Brendan Devenney (St Eunan’s): What a natural forward, Brendan could pull a score out of nothing. As a Donegal supporter I loved watching Brendan play. But not so much play against us as he would give us a horrible time!

Michael Murphy (Glenswilly): Michael needs no introduction, the best forward I’ve ever played with and against. Micheal has everything. He can score, has vision and is not afraid to put a shift in. A leader on and off the field. We’ve had some great battles against each other and there are still a few more to come.
