Kieran Brennan is a well-known figure in local soccer circles, and is a Castlefinn Celtic club stalwart.
He made his debut when he was 16, and went on to play for 17 years before taking over as senior team manager.
Brennan has gone up against some quality players in the Donegal Junior League, and has this week picked the best 11 (3-4-3) he has faced.

Not the tallest ‘keeper but he always had a good game against us. Confident with the ball at his feet also.
Chris O’Donnell (Drumoghill)
I played a lot against Chris when he was a centre midfielder a few years ago. He was very fit and able to go box-to-box. He moved to centre half more recently and never missed a ball.
Dermot Shields (Lifford Celtic)
‘Froggy’ was a top class defender, always cool on the ball. He played a year with Castlefinn when I started out, and he didn’t need to be screaming and roaring to command a defence.
Benny Bonner
Benny Bonner (Drumkeen United and Drumoghill)
Benny played most of his best football in the USL but also helped Drumoghill to a Donegal League Premier Division title and was excellent at left-back that year. Still a quality player.
Stevie O’Donnell (Lagan Harps)
Stevie was an excellent player who should have played more senior football. He was very strong and could shoot from anywhere.
Eamonn Cannon (Glenea United)
Eamonn is a very strong midfielder. He owned the pitch when you played away in Glenea, and you were sore in the morning after a tussle with Eamonn.
Chris Malseed, Letterkenny Rovers

I played against Chris a lot at underage level and again when he was with Drumoghill. He always found time on the ball and kept it simple.
Ryan McGavigan (Drumkeen United)
I played with Ryan with the district and school teams, and hated playing against him. He had close control and a wicked left foot. Couldn’t give him an inch or you were in trouble.
Shane Gallagher (Deele Harps)
Shane always scored goals against Castlefinn in tight games. Thankfully he came to the Finn for three excellent years in his later career. He was a very important player for us when winning our first and only Premier to date. A great fella with the young lads too on and off the pitch.
Tomás Diver
Tomás Diver (Gweedore Celtic)
Back when we first got into the top division, Tomás was scoring goals every week and he liked to score a few against us most games! I had the unfortunate task of marking him a couple of times and wasn’t on the winning side too often.
Kevin McHugh (Kildrum Tigers)
Another player who always finds the net year in, year out even in his late years as a player. Could pull you out of position and punish.
