FOR the past three years Kieran Feeney has been providing safe and comfortable transportation to Donegal’s youngest patients as they travel between their homes and hospitals.
After working with Eir for over three decades, the Killea native decided it was time for a change.
Now describing the move as “the best decision” he ever made, Kieran said no other job compares to working as a driver for BUMBLEance.
BUMBLEance is the world’s first ambulance service specifically designed and tailored for children.
Supporting children in care of any children’s hospital, they provide transport for those with any and all medical needs.
The service exists to reduce financial hardship on families, remove the stress associated with organising regular medical transport and most importantly, provide a safe, secure and fun environment for Ireland’s youngest patients.
With no two days the same, Kieran strives to make every experience as happy and as friendly as possible.
Equipped with an on-board Playstation, WiFi, Netflix, DVDs, Games, Books, Colouring Books, Sensory Lights, Apple TV, Music and much more, BUMBLEance has it all.
And on the off chance Kieran doesn’t have a game to your liking, he even allows his passengers to bring their own!
Even though the journeys are long, Kieran said it is “well worth it” when you see a parent relaxed and a child content in the back of the BUMBLEance.
“The most rewarding part of this job is making the parents and their little ones journey comfortable and enjoyable on the road to their appointments.
“We also have plenty of banter along the way which shortens the journey,” he said.
With many little smiles to brighten up each day, Kieran boasts that his job is full of “satisfaction”.
“The best decision I made was coming to work for BUMBLEance,” he said.
