NAOMH Conaill begin their defence of the Donegal SFC title with a home tie against Termon on Saturday night at Davy Brennan Park (throw-in, 7.30pm).
The Glenties side had a terrific 2015, and they have already secured silverware this season, by landing the Donegal Senior Gaeltacht crown two weeks ago.
Naomh Conaill are trying to become the first club since St Eunan’s in 2009 to retain the Dr Maguire Cup, and joint-manager Martin Doherty reckons that will be a difficult task.
“We had a good weekend at the Gaeltacht and we’re looking forward to another big game this week,” said Doherty, who manages the team along with Martin Regan.
“We’re the holders of the Dr Maguire Cup, and I suppose there’s pressure with that, but in other ways, there’s not.
“In recent years, clubs have found it very hard to retain it, and it takes a huge effort.
“But we’re looking forward to the challenge. We have two games at home and that’s beneficial, and we have to make the most of that.”
