Finn Harps’ dismal home form continued on Friday night as they lost out by a single goal to improving Longford Town at Finn Park.

The Donegal side, who have managed only two league wins in Ballybofey this season, fell behind after 18 minutes when Christian Magerusan pounced inside the area to steer home off the post.

The visitors were the better side in that first half which ended with Harps losing defender Daithi McCallion to what appeared to be a serious shoulder injury. He was stretchered from the field and  taken to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment.

Just after the hour, the home side had Matthew Makinson sent off for a second booking. It left Harps with a tough task and despite creating chances, they were unable to find an equaliser.

They’re now nine points off the play-off spots ahead of a trip to Wexford next Friday night.
