TEN motorists were arrested in Donegal over the Bank Holiday weekend for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Gardaí in Donegal Division operating speed checks and high visibility checkpoints over the Bank Holiday weekend made five arrests for drink driving related offences.
Five motorists were also arrested for the offence of drug driving. Fixed Charge Penalty notices were issued for a variety of other road traffic offences.
A garda spokesperson said: “We continue to urge all road users, regardless of whether it is a Bank Holiday weekend or not to take care on the roads and never to take unnecessary risks. Wear a seatbelt, slow down, don’t use/hold a mobile phone while driving and never drive while under the influence of alcohol/drugs.”
