THOSE wishing for a white Christmas look set to have their hopes dashed as temperatures over the festive period could be as warm as those in Spain.
That’s according to Gerry Murphy, a Meteorologist and Weather Forecaster with Met Éireann.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Mr Murphy said unless the forecast changes significantly, there won’t be a white Christmas this year.
“For Monday, December 23, Christmas Eve and Christmas day, it will become much milder with day temperatures of 11 or 12 degrees,” Mr Murphy said.
“These temperatures are about two to three degrees above average for late December.
“Lowest night time temperatures will be around six to eight degrees.”
Meanwhile, Mr Murphy said Ireland may experience similar temperatures to the north of Spain over the festive period.
This comes as reports suggest temperatures could dip below 10 degrees in Spain on Christmas day.
“Temperatures of 11 to 12 degrees may be similar to some places in the north of Spain,” Mr Murphy concluded.
