Teenager who died in road collision is named locally

The teenager who died in the fatal road collision in Inishowen in the early hours of Sunday morning has been named locally as Tiernan Doherty-Kelly from Carndonagh.

Gardai are investigating the single-vehicle collision which occurred on the R244 (Mountain Road) at Ballinlough shortly after 5am on Sunday.

Mr Doherty-Kelly was the driver and sole occupant of the car and was fatally injured in the collision.

His death has been met with deep sadness in Carndonagh and tributes have been pouring in for the popular teenager who played with his local soccer and GAA clubs.

In a post on social media, Carndonagh FC said their clubhouse was open today for players from their club, Carndonagh GAA or Inishowen Rugby to come together during this time.

Carndonagh GAA club were due to hold their AGM this evening but the meeting was cancelled as a mark of respect.
