EACH and every one of us is connected to some form of technology in today’s world, however, whether we choose to use it positively or negatively is entirely up to us.
Take advantage of the services and apps available online for your overall health and wellness, whether it’s mental or physical health we can create and build upon positive habits that can allow you to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Why not try take some small steps in the build up to Christmas. We all have to start somewhere…
Remember, any journey is about repeating the effort you put in, consistency is key! How many times a day do we check our emails, Facebook page, newsletter, Instagram, Whatsapp? Are you influenced by what you see and read? Does it leave you feeling positive or down in the dumps? Think about it, could you spare 10 minutes per day introducing an app that might actually benefit you?
There are a number of apps available out there. Try to find one that’s best for you, one that might suit your activity level or your current state of mind. Depending on your recent goal (if any) you can keep track of progress over a number of weeks. Maybe you have no goal in mind but would just like to introduce more positivity into your daily routine?
My fitness pal is one of the most common apps today helping you to get on track (and most importantly stay on track) with your nutrition goals.
The headspace app is one of my favourite apps out there, reluctant at the start I persevered knowing that it could potentially instil calmness into my daily routine. After all we always have time to check our phones. Literally ten minutes per day… each day has something different and believe it or not I actually look forward to some me time. In today’s society it’s all GO GO GO and for many reading today’s article you may think you ‘don’t have time’ or ‘it’s a waste of time’. Believe me it is not, as I’ve said you are most likely using some form of technology anyway, so why not try and use it to your advantage.
So what are the benefits of these apps? Well, depending on your own personal reason for downloading the app most applicable to you, you must want to achieve something from them, weather it is to increase your activity level (Couch-5k) bring calmness to your daily routine, (mindfulness) drink more water (waterlogged) or become more aware of the types and amount of foods you consume daily (my fitness app) there is one out there for everyone.
With high levels of daily stress and anxiety, surely mediation can help alleviate this whist making room in the brain for a more functional thought process. Surely by monitoring your dietary intake you can only become healthier and more aware of the foods your consuming too much off?
I’m pretty sure one more app could be squeezed in, give it a go!
