The man, who did not wish to be named, asked if the use of taxis to transport patients such short distances was a ‘waste of tax payers’ money’.
“I was told I was to go across to the St Conal’s complex for an appointment. However, I was amazed when I was told that a taxi was waiting for me outside,” he explained.
“When my appointment was finished, the same taxi was called to take me back over to the General Hospital.
“To be honest, it was a perfectly fine day and while I was not physically able to walk across I would not have minded being put into a wheelchair and pushed across. I mean, it’s only a distance of about 300 metres.”
