A LETTERKENNY taxi driver was shocked to discover that thieves would steal
a set of seats belonging to his vehicle from outside his front door.
The seats had been left outside Dickie McGranaghan’s Ballymacool Terrace home while he went to collect two wheelchair-bound clients. When he came back home the specially adapted seats were gone.
The seats cost €1,000 and without them Dickie’s taxi cannot operate at normal capacity without them.
“They were specially made and fit onto rollers in my taxi. They cost me more than £750 and I got them made for me in Northern Ireland. Christmas is the busiest time of year but now I can’t collect bigger parties in the eight seater because I don’t have these seats,” he explained.
Dickie maintains that whoever stole the seats on Tuesday night last knew exactly what they were doing as it would have taken two people to move them.
He pointed out that the seats are no use to anyone else because of the fact they were specially made to fit his vehicle.
“The sad thing is that they have probably just dumped them in a field where they’ll rot away,” he said.
