AN Taoiseach and leader of the Fine Gael Party, Enda Kenny TD has paid tribute to Fine Gael TD for Donegal South-West, Dinny McGinley who , after 33 years as a TD, has announced that he will not be running in the next general election.
“Dinny’s decision to stand down at the end of this Dáil term represents the end of an era in Donegal politics.
“Dinny has represented the people of Donegal South-West for 33 consecutive years as a TD. I have worked closely him during that time and have witnessed at first-hand his hard work and commitment to the people the people of his constituency.
“I was honoured to appoint Dinny as Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs, a role he served with distinction. His love of the language is well known and we frequently conversed as gaeilge over the years.
“I would like to once again pay tribute to Dinny for his passion in politics and his unwavering commitment to his constituents for more than three decades. I wish him the very best for the future and I have no doubt that he will remain an active and valuable public figure.”
