An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has talked about the devastation and destruction Tuesday night’s flooding has cause the county of Donegal. He talks about the Governments response to the flooding, and what residents effected can expect in way of funding.
In response Government Chief Whip and Donegal TD Joe McHugh said: “Ministers and officials in all our departments are working closely to ensure that everything is being done to help alleviate the disaster which has befallen so manyof our citizens in Inishowen.
“I welcome the response from across Government, the payment schemes set up by my colleague Minister Regina Doherty and the efforts of Minister Kevin Boxer Moran and Minister Shane Ross in the past 48 hours.
“I want to thank the Taoiseach for his pledge to help fix the wide range of infrastructural problems facing people on the peninsula.”
Minister McHugh and Minister Moran visited a large number of homes, farms and businesses in Inishowen again today including residents in Urris, Clonmany, Carndonagh, Burnfoot and Buncrana.
“People have been left devastated by this weather event. It’s a miracle there was no loss of life. In Government all ministers are working closely with the local authority on the ground to ensure everything is being done to help.” added Minister McHugh.
