Comprising of a 1000m swim across the breadth of Mulroy Bay, finishing at the pier in Woodquarter it was a hugely rewarding experience for all involved.
This year promises to build on the success of last year’s event, with the hope of attracting 100 swimmers, with everything from complete novices to Michael Phelps-like Olympians and if you feel like 1000 metres of Atlantic waters is too much for you, then complete the second half of the swim.
The idea for this fund-raising event has its roots in the fact that many years ago a Cranford native, the late Madge Carr, had often conquered the sizeable swim. In light of this, the swim has been re-titled the Madge Carr Mulroy Bay Swim.
Registration will be at 3pm on Saturday, July 30 at Cranford Community Centre with the swim to commence at 5pm.
Following the swim particpants be duly fed, watered and entertained in Logues of Cranford, who are hosting live music and a BBQ in line with the event. BBQ €8 in aid of the RNLI.
Becoming a part of this extremely worthwhile event is easy. There is a dedicated website and Facebook page through which you can sign up for the event, or call 086 190 2506.
All the necessary information and sponsorship material will then be provided; so all you have to do is raise a minimum of €25 and show up along side the other 99ish brave souls.
The closing date for applications is 14th July.
The Mulroy Bay Swim guarantees a great day for a very worthy cause, so get in touch, get active, and get into those speedos.
