Suspected cannabis worth €20,000 seized in Donegal

Suspected cannabis worth €20,000 has been seized in Donegal.
On Thursday, gardaí stopped a vehicle with three people on board which had been observed driving erratically at speed on the N13.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 1kg of suspected cannabis with an approximate street value of €20,000.
All occupants of the vehicle were arrested and detained at Buncrana Garda Station.
The driver of the vehicle has been charged with a dangerous driving offence. A male passenger appeared before Ballyshannon District Court on Friday charged with offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The seizure forms part of Operation Tara, a national anti-drugs strategy launched by Commissioner Drew Harris. The focus of the Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking network, at all levels – international, national and local – involved in the distribution, cultivation, production and local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
A garda spokesperson said: “We urge the public to report any information they may have to gardaí regarding drug dealing within their communities in Donegal.”
